The activity links industrial heritage and SDGs in a playful and participatory space recovered from the historical memory of Puerto de Sagunto. The importance of the reuse of spaces for sustainability
The historic Warehouse of Components and Spare Parts (Puerto de Sagunto, Spain), erected in 1927 by the Compañía Siderúrgica del Mediterráneo for the purpose of storing molds and spare parts, has been preserved from demolition. After the closure of Altos Hornos del Mediterráneo in 1984, the decision was made to convert this building into a museum that would recount the birth and evolution of the industrial city of Puerto de Sagunto.
During the activity, a large participatory model will be created imagining a industrial city. Each participant will visit the Industrial Museum, where the didactical team will be given a brief introduction about the SDG and how we are working to achieve them in our daily actions.
It becomes valuable to highlight the roots and local heritage, in order to consolidate the values of this place and, indirectly, encourage the settlement of the population and the growth of employment. An integral part of this proposal is the creation of activities aimed at families, with a common focus on discovering the heritage and industrial history of Puerto de Sagunto.
La histórica Nave-Almacén de Componentes y Repuestos, erigida en 1927 por la Compañía Siderúrgica del Mediterráneo con el propósito de almacenar moldes y piezas de repuesto, ha sido preservada de la demolición. Después del cierre de Altos Hornos del Mediterráneo en 1984, se tomó la decisión de convertir este edificio en un museo que relataría el nacimiento y la evolución de la ciudad fabril de Puerto de Sagunto.
Se creará una maqueta de gran tamaño en la que todos podrán participar para diseñar una ciudad industrial imaginaria. Cada persona que participe visitará el Museo Industrial, donde se les dará una breve introducción sobre los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible y cómo estamos trabajando para alcanzarlos en nuestras acciones cotidianas.
Se vuelve valioso resaltar las raíces y el patrimonio local, con el fin de consolidar los valores de este lugar y, de manera indirecta, fomentar el asentamiento de la población y el crecimiento del empleo. Una parte integral de esta propuesta es la creación de actividades dirigidas a familias, con un enfoque común en descubrir el patrimonio y la historia industrial de Puerto de Sagunto.
