Az ENSZ adatai szerint 2100-ra 9,4-12,7 milliárdra növekvő emberi népességet a jelenlegi műszaki-technológiai szinten lehetetlen lesz fenntarthatóan egészséges élelmiszerrel, tiszta ivóvízzel és energiával ellátni.
