Zero Waste: Utopia or Necessity?

Invited talk and discussion with Bea Johnson,
author of “Zero Waste Home”

How much waste do we generate in our daily lives? And how much of it can actually be avoided? Is conducting a “Zero Waste” lifestyle possible at all? Where do we draw the line? And what drives our consumption behavior? In her internationally recognized book “Zero Waste Home”, Bea Johnson explains how her family managed to reduce their annual household waste volume to one liter. The 5R motto they apply to guide their consumption – Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Rot – inspires a growing international community to take a stance against needless waste.

We are happy to welcome Bea Johnson at ETH Zurich to discuss the above and other questions with her in person. After her input presentation, she will join a panel discussion to critically reflect on the notion of “Zero Waste” before opening the floor to questions from the audience.
