STITCH IT UP (UPCYCLING OF FAST FASHION WASTE)

Vogue Xchange will be delivering workshops to educate the community about the negative impact of fast fashion on the environment as well as to inspire the creative reuse of existing fashion.

Upcycling is a form of alternative consumption, which incorporates the creative re-use, repair, refurbishments and upgrades to existing products whilst lessening the impact on the environment.

There will be a series of facilitated upcycle workshops, utilising fashion waste from Vogue Xchange with a facilitator who will talk/teach attendees and give out more information about upcycling of fast fashion waste.

These workshops will be an evolution from similar workshops done with students from Aġenzija Żgħażagħ and are a seed project for further projects that Vogue Xchange is developing and intends to bring to higher education departments in Malta as well to the local community in Gozo.

Introducing and developing upcycle interest and skills has the potential to create micro incomes especially for minority groups. On a domestic level, upcycling is form of creativity that brings confidence and wellbeing to individuals.
