The Community Water Development Fund is an annual grants scheme open to communities in the Republic of Ireland administered by the Local Authority Waters Programme (LAWPRO) on behalf of the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage. The fund aims to deliver community projects that will bring about improvements in water quality and/or raise public awareness of the value of good water quality. It aims to build community capacity in water related challenges, working together to improve water quality. 

 An area of interest and several projects have been funded in the area of nature based solutions to the management of rainwater and surface water runoff in urban areas and today’s launch demonstrates one such initiative. SDG 11 and SDG 13.

On 28 Sept 2023, the Community Water Development Fund will open for applications to our 2024 scheme and we are inviting community groups to apply for funding. We have €525,000 to allocate in total and are accepting applications until 6 Dec 2023.
