Human Rights and Corporate Accountability – Realising the Sustainable Development Goals

A Workshop hosted by the Africa-Europe Faith & Justice Network (AEFJN Ireland), in collaboration with the Irish Coalition for Business and Human Rights (ICBHR)

Location: Edmund Hall, Marino Institute of Education, Griffith Avenue, Dublin.

Date and Time: Saturday, 16 September 2023, from 2pm to 4:30pm.

“We need to end corporate abuses of human rights and the environment – to change the rules of the game so that we can build a fairer, more sustainable world. New corporate accountability legislation is needed to put an end to corporate human rights violations” (Make It Your Business, ICBHR).

This September, the SDG Summit at the UN General Assembly will be co-facilitated by Ireland. To mark the Summit, AEFJN Ireland and the ICBHR is pleased to host a workshop exploring the topic of human rights and corporate accountability in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is hoped that participants will gain a clearer understanding of the abuses that exist in corporate value chains, and the connection between corporate accountability and the SDGs. Participants will also learn about proposed EU Due Diligence legislation, and explore how we can each advocate to constrain corporate power and ensure greater protection of human rights. The workshop includes facilitated group-work, as well as an opportunity to meet and discuss over a cup of tea or coffee and a scone!

All welcome – bring along a friend! No need to register – just turn up!
