Due to its geographical location, its geology and its very rugged terrain, Reunion Island is the French department most exposed to risks linked to natural hazards. Whether of geological origin (land movement, volcanic eruption, earthquake, tsunami) or climatic (cyclone and tropical storm, flooding, wildfire), 7 of the 8 risks linked to natural hazards threaten the island. With 10 years of experience and thanks to a solid network of technical, institutional and also educational partners, PIROI DRR activities raise awarness trough disaster prevention events with the population, as well as in schools. On Tuesday September 28 2021, the French Red Cross volunteers will run fun and educational workshops for children aged 6 to 11: a giant board serious-game “Paré pour l’aventure” , a reading of the tale “L’île au mille dangers” to learn more about Reunion’s natural hazards and the “Paré pour l’inondation” card game to learn what actions to take to be batter prepared against floods.

L'île de La Réunion est le département français le plus exposé aux risques liés aux aléas naturels. Qu’ils soient d’origine géologique (mouvement de terrain, éruption volcanique, séisme, tsunami) ou climatique (cyclone et tempête tropicale, inondation, feu de végétation), 7 des 8 risques liés aux aléas naturels menacent l’île. Forte de ses 10 ans d’expérience et grâce à un solide réseau de partenaires techniques, institutionnels mais aussi éducatifs, la PIROI intervient régulièrement auprès du grand public ainsi qu’en milieu scolaire. Le vendredi 24 septembre, les bénévoles animeront des ateliers ludiques et pédagogiques auprès des enfants de 6 à 11 ans : jeu de plateau géant “Paré pour l’aventure” et lecture du conte “L’île au mille dangers” pour en connaître davantage sur les risques naturels de La Réunion, jeux de carte “Paré pour l’inondation” pour apprendre quels actions mettre en oeuvre pour se protéger des inondations.
