Amplifying Voices – Showcase

Amplifying Voices is a project to offer migrants the opportunity to tell their story, in their way.

Amplifying Voices is a project created by Development Perspectives that offers migrants an opportunity to learn storytelling skills and develop new creative ways to share their stories. For our second edition of AV, we welcomed 6 participants to take part. These participants came from a variety of backgrounds and included asylum seekers as well as some members of the Ukrainian community in Gormanstown. The participants took part in over 21 hours of training spread over 5 workshops. Topics included basic principles of storytelling, storytelling models (e.g. The Hero’s Journey), photography skills, Podcasting editing and recording skills and creative storytelling.

As a result of the training, the participants have developed their own stories through the means of photography and/or podcasting. We will share their work through a showcase event in Highlanes Gallery on September 27th at 7pm. On the night, we will also showcase a short documentary we have produced that highlights the work DP have conducted providing opportunities for migrants to integrate into local community through outdoor education activities and community events (e.g. litter collections).

This project was funded by the Department of Justice.
