In 2015 world leaders agreed on the Agenda 2030 and on 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with 169 targets to get there. Out of the 169 targets that make up the 17 SDGs, at least 59 are environmental targets. But environmental NGOs are currently underrepresented in the NGO coalitions that engage in holding states to account in relation to their SDG implementation. There is huge untapped potential for environmental NGOs. This toolkit encourage them to actively work on SDGs by giving them useful tools and examples of best practices in European countries so that they don’t start from scratch when building their strategies on SDGs.
