The open Society Forum “Climate change and migration” will take place this year on September 29 from 13:00 to 17:30 in Fotografiska in Tallinn in cooperation with the NGO Mondo.

The climate crisis may have been briefly overshadowed by the corona pandemic in recent years, but it remains the most pressing challenge of our time. The purpose of the event is to contribute to the improvement of climate, environment and migration literacy in society and, above all, to give young people the opportunity to have a say in their future. Since climate and migration are closely intertwined, let’s look at these issues as a whole.

The presenters are:

• Canadian social anthropologist Professor Mark Nuttall
• Kersti Kaljulaid
• Anthony Agotha, Senior Diplomatic Advisor to Frans Timmermans
• Vice President of the European Commission entrepreneur and founder of the sustainable investment platform Grünfin Triin Hertmann
• Estonian climate activist Kertu Birgit Anton

The discussion will be led by human geographer and Tallinn University of Technology vice-rector for the green transition Professor Helen Sooväli-Sepping.

The second part of the forum focuses on youth climate activism. The working language of the forum is English with simultaneous translation into Estonian, and the event can also be followed via Facebook live broadcast.

Avatud Ühiskonna Foorum "Kliimamuutused ja ränne" toimub sel aastal 29. septembril kell 13–17.30 Tallinnas Fotografiskas koostöös MTÜ Mondoga. 

Kliimakriis võis viimastel aastatel korraks koroonapandeemia varju jääda, kuid sellest hoolimata on see jätkuvalt meie aja kõige pakilisem väljakutse. Sündmuse eesmärk on aidata kaasa kliima-, keskkonna- ja rändealase kirjaoskuse parandamisele ühiskonnas ning eelkõige anda noortele võimalus oma tuleviku osas kaasa rääkida. Kuna kliima ja ränne on omavahel tihedalt põimunud, vaatame nendele teemadele peale tervikuna.
