Tertiary forest is a transformation of an inner city parking lot into a public space which aims to have a positive impact on city climate. It associates the plantation of a large number of trees in a mineral yet permeable ground surface. The result is a new typology of urban public space which reduces the effects of urban heat island; a forest-like landscape with flat mineral ground which makes it at the same time completely accessible, low maintenance and open to urban use. We named it tertiary forest as an extension of primary (untouched) and secondary (regrown) forest.
The aim of this urban forest is to become a versatile pedestrian public space for the residents from the adjacent young workers residence and for the neighbourhood.

Ce projet a transformé lˊancien parking de la résidence de jeunes travailleurs Eugène Hénaff en un espace extérieur arboré dédié aux piétons. Lisière dˊune Tierce Forêt est un projet pilote de rafraîchissement urbain. Le dispositif réconcilie le milieu urbain avec la nature, il introduit un véritable écosystème forestier au cœur de la ville tout en préservant le caractère urbain du site. Lˊaménagement consiste en une plantation dense dˊarbres associée à un revêtement de sol perméable.
