The concept consists of creative upcycling and engagement in pointing to the growing problem of marine pollution and the need to preserve the environment.
The Junk Fleet virtual exhibition tried to point out the increasingly difficult ecological condition of our Blue Planet.
Viewers are surprised by the idea and the final results. Then the surprise turns into delight. I wish it would be followed by a moment of awareness, sadness, and then the action.
The Fleet, showing how to make something out of nothing, enters the area of upcycling, wants to point out the increasingly dangerous pollution of the sea and the necessary need to preserve it. I hope that in this way, awareness of the ecological way of thinking contributes to the overall effort to reduce waste generation. In that sense, I’m probably the only shipbuilder who would be happiest – if he ran out of materials to work.
These boats and ships are the footprint of our time drowning in their own waste, but also a resistance to the ugly and dark side of our civilization. It is time to reach out again to what we have rejected – nature.
Virtualna izložba Junk Fleet pokušava ukazati na sve teže ekološko stanje našeg Plavog planeta.
Gledatelji su najprije iznenađeni idejom i konačnim rezultatima. Nakon toga iznenađenje se pretvara u oduševljenje. Volio bih da nakon toga slijedi trenutak osvještenja, tuge, a zatim i akcije.
Ova Flota, pokazujući kako od ničega može napraviti nešto, ulazi u područje upcyclinga, želi ukazati na sve opasnije onečišćenje mora i potrebnu potrebu za njegovim očuvanjem. Nadam se da na taj način svijest o ekološkom načinu razmišljanja pridonosi ukupnim naporima za smanjenje stvaranja otpada. U tom smislu, vjerojatno sam jedini brodograditelj koji bi bio najsretniji - kad bi mu ponestalo materijala za rad.
Ovi su brodovi otisak našeg vremena koje se utapa u vlastitom otpadu, ali i otpor ružnoj i mračnoj strani naše civilizacije. Vrijeme je da ponovno posegnemo za onim što smo odbacili - prirodom.
