Sustainable Development Goals: Zero Hunger

Lecture Zero Hunger will present biggest challenges and most important innovations relating to this Goal, while the workshop will focus on finding solutions for more sustainable food systems.

Sustainable Development Goal 2 is aimed at ending hunger, achieving food security and improved nutrition and achieving sustainable food production by 2030. There are 795 million hungry people today and considering that the population of the world will reach 9.6 billion by 2050, a systemic change in the global agricultural and food production system is needed. At the same time, more than third of all food produced for human consumption is lost or wasted, of which 88 million tons only in the European Union. We need to rethink how we produce, distribute and consume food. Therefore, it is important to work on raising awareness on Zero hunger and Sustainable Development Goals in general, encourage and actively engage in the discussion revolving around this goal. In the lecture, IDOP will present recent developments, main challenges and most important innovations in the field, while the workshop will focus on discussion and finding solutions for sustainable food production and consumption.



Cilj održivog razvoja broj 2 usmjeren je na iskorjenjivanje gladi i svih oblika pothranjenosti, osiguravanje opskrbe hranom za sve i postizanje održive proizvodnje hrane do 2030. godine. Da bismo osigurali hranu za 795 milijuna gladnih ljudi i još dvije milijarde više koliko će nas biti 2050. godine, potrebna je sustavna promjena globalnog sustava poljoprivrede i proizvodnje hrane. U isto vrijeme, godišnje se baci više od trećine ukupno proizvedene hrane, od čega 88 milijuna tona samo u EU. Zbog svega toga vrijeme je za radikalno promišljanje proizvodnje, distribucije i konzumacije hrane. Važno je raditi na podizanju svijesti o iskorijenjivanju gladi kao preduvjetu održivog razvoja, informiranju sudionika i aktivnom uključivanju u raspravu o provedbi ovog cilja. IDOP će kroz predavanje predstaviti najvažnije spoznaje, glavne izazove ovog cilja i najvažnije inovacije u području, a radionica će biti usmjerena na pronalazak rješenja za održivu proizvodnju i potrošnju hrane.
