SUSTAINABILITY ISSUES CONCERNING SENIOR CITIZENS

This initiative will consist of a social media awareness campaign and a ZOOM panel discussion aiming to explore and debate sustainability issues local and migrant senior citizens are faced with.

NWAMI International Malta concerns itself with bridging socio-cultural gaps and building integrated communities. The organisation believes that to achieve the 2030 Agenda, we must prepare for an ageing population, as it impacts poverty eradication, good health, social inclusion and gender equality, economic growth as well as decreased inequities and sustainable cities with special attention to the needs of the elderly. According to statistics, between now and 2030, the number of people aged 60 and older is expected to expand by 46% from 962 million to 1.4 billion, outnumbering adolescents and young children.

We will contribute with 2 initiatives:

1. A ZOOM panel discussion aiming to address issues local and migrant senior citizens faced in Malta before, and are facing during, the pandemic and look at future perspectives and what standards need to be set for our local and aging migrant population.

2. A social media awareness campaign addressing the same theme.
