«Secondhand Day» is a new national action day! Our goal is to raise awareness for a more sustainable and thoughtful consumption habit – in order to move from a linear to a more circular economy.
secondhand day – For an economy without waste
The national Secondhand Day on September 26, 2020 – initiated by Ricardo, myclimate, Circular Economy Switzerland and 20 Minuten – encourages a more thoughtful and sustainable consumption.
The goal is to lower the yearly per capita CO2 emissions of roughly 14 tons by changing consumer behavior. Sharing, passing on, reusing and repairing, will reduce CO2 emissions, which originate in production, transport and the disposal of goods. With this we positively influence the impact on our planet.
Participating vintage stores, repair workshops, secondhand online markets, thirft shops, flea markets become «circular heroes». They all shape this day to become a colorful and fun way to move towards a more circular economy. CO2 emissions saved on the day through second-hand sales are measured, collected and reported.
Secondhand Day - für eine Wirtschaft ohne Verschwendung
Der nationale Secondhand Day am Samstag, 26. September 2020, ist eine Initiative von Ricardo, myclimate, Circular Economy Switzerland und 20 Minuten, die zu nachhaltigerem und bewussterem Konsum animieren will.
Ziel ist, die CO2-Emissionen von rund 14 Tonnen pro Jahr und Kopf durch ein verändertes Konsumverhalten zu senken. Indem Konsumgüter geteilt, weitergegeben, wiederverwendet, repariert und aufbereitet werden, verringern wir die CO2-Emissionen, die bei Produktion, Transport und Entsorgung entstehen. Damit beeinflussen wir die Auswirkung auf unseren Planeten positiv.
Teilnehmende Vintage-Shops, Secondhand-Online-Marktplätze, Brockenhäuser, Reparaturwerkstätten oder Flohmarkt-Organisatoren werden zu «Circular Heroes» und gestalten mit ihren kreativen Aktionen den Tag mit. Die am Aktionstag durch Secondhand-Verkäufe eingesparten CO2-Emissionen werden gemessen, gesammelt und ausgewiesen.
