Basel’s exhibition lookes at the urban food system. The themes are sustainable agriculture, drinking water purification, seeds, food transport, local trade, urban agriculture and quality of life.
Do you know where the food on your plate comes from? Most of the time, you probably don’t. In our cities, food has become a convenience. Everything is available around the clock. We can buy strawberries in December, and we don’tthink twice about it. We buy meat from animal factories because it is cheap. Many farmers sell their products to the food industry rather than the local market. As a consequence, we have no idea where the milk in our yoghurt comes from.It is time you cared about your food: You can start growing vegetables in anurban garden. You can buy your produce on the neighbourhood market, and yourmeat from a local farmer. You can ask your supermarket to stock local products. In Basel, there are many organisations that work to change the food system in the city. Caring about food means caring about society.In Basel, we care.
Für die Basler Präsenz an der Expo Milano 2015 wurde die Ausstellung „La cena è pronta! – Der Tisch ist gedeckt!“ erstellt. Die Konzeption und Umsetzung entstand in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Forschungsinstitut für Biologischen Landbau FiBL, Bio Suisse, ProSpecieRara, Urban Agriculture Netz Basel und Industrielle Werke Basel IWB. Von Seiten des Kantons Basel-Stadt waren die Abteilung Aussenbeziehungen und Standortmarketing, das Amt für Umwelt und Energie, die Kantons- und Stadtentwicklung und die Stadtgärtnerei involviert. Gestaltet wurde die Ausstellung von der Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst FHNW. Die Neuauflage der Ausstellung für Basel wird finanziert durch die Kantons- und Stadtentwicklung, die Abteilung Aussenbeziehungen und Standortmarketing und dem Amt für Umwelt und Energie.
