Compost build day at Enniscorthy Community Allotments. Master composter Betty Kehoe will guide you through designing and building a complete composting system from recycled pallets.
A practical, hands-on workshop in designing and building a complete composting system, covering:
- 3 bay turning system with double bay storage area using matching pallets & posts
- Holding system using matching pallets & posts
- 2 leaf mould enclosures using weld mesh wire & posts
All participants are advised to wear suitable clothing and strong footwear, gardening gloves are necessary, secateurs and scissors are also handy.
Each participant is invited to bring along compostable materials, such as:
- Cardboard – non glossy
- Newspaper
- Shredded Office Paper
- Bags of autumn leaves
- Farm yard manure or Horse Manure
- Seaweed
- Hedge trimmings
- Lawn trimmings
- Straw
- Coffee grinds
Each participant will also need to bring their own lunch and refreshments
