Awareness Campaign on the cause of Rare Diseases

This project aims to create awareness and engage with the local community to identify persons with a rare disease, giving them support and making sure they are not falling in the poverty line.

Being part of the rare disease community at the United Nations (Economic and Social Council – ECOSOC), this project and any other initiative that the NGO participates in is based on fulfilling the SDGs. This project will be focusing on 3 SDGs (good health and wellbeing, quality education and reduced inequalities).

Issues concerning rare diseases need to be given more attention and thus this project aims to collect relevant data that will eventually be submitted to the local authorities so as to engage on a holistic national action plan.

The Marsa community was chosen for this project since it is a village the NGO feels needs more attention than others. It also welcomes people of different nationalities and has a diverse socio-economic community.

For this reason, the project will reach and address persons/families that otherwise might not be targeted.
