The European Sustainable Development Week (ESDW) is a shared initiative together with the whole of Europe to facilitate the organization of activities that promote sustainable development and make these efforts visible on a common platform. If you would like to add your event to this list, or find out what is happening this year in Belgium, join us at www.sdgs.be!   Since 2018, the Association of Flemish Cities and Municipalities (VVSG) organises the ‘Week of the Sustainable Municipality’ during which Flemish local governments raise the SDG-flag at their City Halls and put their local ‘sustainable heroes’ in the spotlights. The heroes are citizens, schools, companies and organisations who contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals in their own daily way. They become the local faces of the 17 global goals. During VVSGs annual ‘Sustainable Municipality Week’, Flemish local governments raise an SDG-flag at their city Halls & celebrate local ‘sustainable heroes’. This edition focuses on heroes who contribute to quality education, lifelong learning & global citizenship. Participating cities collect wishes for a sustainable 2030 among their citizens. Get to know all 115 participating municipalities and their heroes on www.duurzamegemeente.be or take a look at VVSGs youtube channel. 55 events have been registered during the ESDW 2023!
